⏪ 2020. Scrub Turkey begins.

This is Heike & Elke: The mother-daughter duo behind Scrub Turkey.

They’ve been working together since Elke was five, when she was already dreaming up marketing ideas for Heike’s school uniform store (free balloons were a favourite).

Heike brings years of experience in healthcare uniforms, while Elke is a designer, illustrator and textile designer.

In 2020, a time when the world was in need of a little joy, they brought those worlds together to create colourful, original scrubs for healthcare workers.

Because work doesn’t have to be boring. And scrubs don’t have to look the same.

6 years on...

Since then, we’ve created more than 20 unique prints and collaborated with 10 independent Australian artists, bringing their work to life on our scrubs.

In 2026, we launched our best-selling Occupation Prints, co-created with focus groups made up of healthcare workers from different occupations. Their input helped us design prints that actually reflect the people wearing them.

We’re also proud to continue supporting Australian artists and organisations through our charitable work, including our collaboration with Coomaditchie, our R U OK? Day charity scrub, and a second special print created by Oliver, an 11-year-old boy battling cancer who dreamed of seeing his artwork on scrubs.

The Aussie artists behind our prints

Yep. We make our scrubs in China.

We work with carefully selected manufacturers who understand what we’re trying to make and, more importantly, care about making it properly.

Because “Made in China” doesn’t automatically mean good or bad. The quality and ongoing sustainabilty comes down to the materials, the people, the process and the standards behind the product.

We’re pretty particular about all four.

Turkey on tour

Our recent trip to our manufacturers

After our biggest pre-order ever, we decided to take flight over to China to meet the people making your scrubs, check in on production, and better understand every step of the process.

MANUFACTURING KNOWLEDGE MATTERS

Our take on: 'Made in China'

We recently spent time in China visiting manufacturers & factories. Like a lot of people, we arrived with assumptions.

We left with a much more nuanced perspective.
